YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Collection

During one of my many Sephora trips, I decided take the plunge and try a YSL lip product. Out of all the different lipstick lines, I was most drawn to the finish and colors of the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine collection. So I began swatching and fell in love with Pourpre Intouchable (2). A few weeks later, I could not resist, and had to pick up one more. I chose Rouge in Danger (4) because at the time I was on a red lipstick rampage.

Let’s get into the payoff and how long they wear. They are probably sheerer than you would anticipate, but they are not nearly as sheer as the YSL Volupte Sheer Candy collection. Just like the name suggests, they have a high shine to them. One thing I love about this collection is that they feel like a balm on your lips. However, the bad part is that they last about as long as a balm does. This is a major negative because at the price of $34, you would expect them to last a little longer. But to be honest, I love the formula and how the colors look with my skintone that I have justified the price. One trick to help them stay on a little longer is to wear something under them. I personally like to wear one of the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains in either a neutral or similar color of the YSL lipstick I am wearing.

Pourpre Intouchable (2): Sephora describes this one as a “deep airy purple.” To me, this is a “my lips but better” color. The tube looks like it would be very dark, but I find it to be a very sheer, nice berry color. There is a fine sparkle to this color as well, but nothing overwhelming or unflattering.

Rouge in Danger (4): Sephora describes this shade as a “deep strawberry red.” It gives the lips a great red color, and is not overwhelming or “in your face” red.  If you are interested in trying a red lip but are a little nervous about it being too bold, I recommend trying this color.

  1. Wow, you've got me really wanting to try out these two lipsticks, especially the Pourpre Intouchable. I love how they look so daring but actually in the swatches they come out much more wearable for an every day basis.

I've got a fuschia called 'pink in devotion' and I have to admit I love the sheer texture too but its staying power is really bad!

  2. I completely agree...love the colors, not the staying power! Have you tried any from the YSL Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick line?
